The Central Victorian Football League announced that the Eagles would join its under-18 girls competition from next season, leaving the AFL Goulburn Murray banner.
The transfer was undertaken in line with AFL Victoria guidelines.
“We’re delighted to welcome Echuca United into the CVFL family,” CVFL operations manager Paul Colbert said.
“Their strong commitment to developing girls’ football and the impressive foundations they have built within their club will only strengthen our league.”
The CVFL under-18 girls league features clubs primarily in Bendigo and surrounds.
The 2025 edition of the league included seven sides: Woorinen, Golden Square, Sandhurst, White Hills, Strathfieldsaye, Eaglehawk and Kangaroo Flat.
Woorinen defeated Sandhurst 24-23 to claim the 2025 flag.
Echuca United president Peter Quanchi and junior football president Vanessa Brewis said the move was a positive one for the ongoing development of the youth girls side.
“We extend our gratitude to the AFL Goulburn Murray administration who were instrumental in bringing female football to our region,” they said via the club’s Facebook page.
“We look forward to the opportunities, support and growth on offer under the guidance of the CVFL.
“This is an exciting era for our football club and female football in our region.
“We can’t wait to go on this new journey together.”
Echuca United was one of the major forces in the Goulburn Murray Girls League in recent years, winning the 2024 flag unbeaten and progressing to the semi-finals this year.
The league, as it stands, has five remaining teams: Moama, Shepparton United, Barooga, Nathalia and Shepparton Swans.
