Rewind to September 2019, and the scenes of the Murray Netball League grand final are still remembered to this day, with Echuca United pulling off a dramatic two point win over Moama to deny the club its prized three-peat.
And while much has changed since that fateful day, every block, pass and shot is sure to have an extra ounce of motivation behind it.
Moama coach Jodie Lake said her team was looking forward to the challenge against United as the club bids to raise the Three Jacks Cup.
“Regardless (of the result) it’s going to be a good day, you're playing people you know really well,” Lake said.
“I think it's a friendly rivalry and the two teams look like fairly different sides (from 2019) so it's a bit unknown.”
In what will be their first game of the new season, the head of netball at United Chris Day said the club was ready and raring to get back to playing netball.
“As a club, the last four to five weeks, there has been a great vibe around the place,” he said.
“The netballers have filled out the roles, and are pumped to play. They've had enough of training,” he added with a laugh.
With United coming out the beneficiaries of that deciding game 18 months ago, Day continues to pour cold water on the renewed rivalry, believing this was "just another game".
“We always start on the Good Friday, and while the result from last season was in our favour, all we are thinking about now is the squad we've got and getting them out there,” he said.
“Early on, it's definitely going to be about learning, and seeing how the team plays.
“Yes, Moama have the jump in front with the one match (already played), but we've been playing games every week in the lead-up.
“You like winning, but our number one goal is finding our combinations, getting our new players out there, learning from each other and using this as a springboard into the season.”
Coming into the clash with a game already under its belt, Moama is hoping to rebound from its loss to Deniliquin last week.
“(Last week) was our first one back, so there was plenty there to work on and adjust,” Lake said.
“We're looking forward to getting out there and putting what we've practiced into play.”
With Moama welcoming back some of its players this round, Lake said the side was well-placed to grab its first win of the season.
“We'll have some good depth,” she said. "And it looks like it will be a warm day, so we'll have room for rotations which will be vital.
“Hopefully there is a nice big crowd and everyone can enjoy being back playing netball again.”
