Many new and returning faces have graced training with their presence, boosting enthusiasm, with new coach Mark van Poeteron’s program seeing improvements across the group.
The 2024 season will see some exciting developments with several double-header games where there will be an over-35s game as well as an over-45s game, which demonstrates the strong position the club is in to be able to field two sides for the first time in 10 years.
There are also some new clubs joining the Masters league this year with the Emus set to play Yarrawonga and Macorna along with regular opponents in GV Giants (Shepparton), Bendigo, Kerang, Maryborough, Murray Crays (Albury), Benalla and a fixture against Wellington (Gippsland) for the first time in several years.
Practice matches have been organised against Plenty Valley on Saturday, February 17 at Jack Eddy Oval (11am) as well as against Diamond Valley on Saturday, March 16 at Mathoura.
The official season will kick off in April with 10 rounds plus a mini-carnival scheduled.
New players, supporters and well-wishers are always welcomed at the Emus. We are committed to supporting players’ physical health along with their mental health. Anyone wishing to join the tribe is encouraged to drop in at training, Wednesday nights at 6pm at the South oval.
Training on Wednesday, February 7 will be dedicated to registering all new and existing players, including a barbecue put on by the club and drinks at 1980s prices.
We look forward to seeing some new faces and always keep an eye out on the EMUs’ Facebook page for news and upcoming events.
