The Echuca Moama United Surrounds (Emus) played against a gallant Macorna Masters on Sunday afternoon at Macorna.
In dry conditions, the Emus went on the attack from the outset, with plenty of corridor football setting up early goals.
The Emus shared the footy around all day, with everyone getting among it.
Plenty of smiles on faces when the final siren sounded and a victory was had.
Clint Jurey was providing headaches up forward, taking some great contested marks, finishing the day with three goals.
Troy Arlow was very busy in a forward pocket, ending his day with four majors.
A goal celebration is not too far away.
Other goal kickers for the day included G. Davis 2, Van Poeteren 2, Walker 1, Chapman 1, Hunter 1, and O’Connor 1.
Nathan Marsh had an excellent game off a back flank and through the middle, earning him best on ground by Macorna.
Mark Battiscombe was fantastic through the middle, winning a lot of contested possessions.
Josh Hunter was doing his usual thing, winning plenty of ball.
Jon Beach played a good game, mixing his time forward and in defence.
Chest marking was clearly one of his strong points.
Special mentions must go to a few Emus who helped out Macorna in making up a team.
Jeff Abela, Craig Danswan, Kevin Pascoe and in the last quarter, Nathan Marsh.
Aaron Prewett took the reins as an assistant coach for the day, making sure the interchange was rotating effectively.
The Emus next game is a double header on Sunday, July 20 at Lockington, with the 35s taking on Bendigo from 12.30 pm and the 45s playing Macorna again from 2.15pm.
The Emus welcome all new players, and with three rounds to go, it’s never too late to join up.
Training is held every Wednesday night from 6pm at Echuca South oval.
