There was over 1300 km of travel put on the buses for the two teams that travelled, affirming the Emus as the destination club for visiting teams.
It was the Murray Crays from Albury-Wodonga in the first leg and they required a few top-ups from the ample Echuca squad to get them rolling.
Echuca fielded it's slightly more youthful team for the first match and they proved too fleet of foot for the crays, snaffling an early lead after co-captain Brad Colliver unconventionally got them kicking against a strong breeze.
Mid-season draftee Leigh Owen made a statement early joining the first kick as a goal club with a classy snap from the pocket, he went on to finish the game strongly with impact throughout.
The Emus were dominant across all lines, particularly half forward with Veitch, Fink, Hunter and Battiscombe all getting amongst the goals, whilst Kent Horrocks was swung from the backline to the forward line with immediate scoreboard impact.
The visitors fought hard in the play and the top-up players from Echuca in Gary Davis, Mick Davis, Lucas Walker, Aaron Prewett, Dave Chapman and Adam Richter played valiantly in the masters spirit.
At the end of the day, Echuca finished with the chocolates comfortably.
As the sun set, the more senior Emus side matched up against Wellington Warriors who had driven all the way from Sale.
It is suspected most of the Warriors were seeking asylum from the Gippsland winter but nevertheless they assembled a full squad with interchange and came ready to play.
Toby McCoy captained the Emus over-45s side and played a true captains game, helping the Emus get their noses in front early.
Utility Kelvin Nye turned back the clock in the midfield, combining well with Rob Guerra at stoppages and linking creatively with club legend Brian Holmes who graced the field in a rare appearance.
As always Craig Danswan showed flair and attack at the ball while Mark Van Poeteron provided a good target in the forward line.
Drew Elliott returned to the side and kept the scoring down like a perfectly cut lawn before there was some magnet flipping in the last quarter to test out the sides adaptability to different positions on the ground.
This allowed the Wellington Warriors to work back into the game but after a hard fought battle, the Emus over-45s were able to hold on to secure another victory, with the Emus remaining undefeated at home this year.
Round five will see the Emus travel to Benalla on Sunday June 16 to take on the Samaria Suns and hoping to get a crucial road trip win on the board.
