A host of Goulburn Valley bowlers remain alive in the esteemed Victorian Open as it quickly approaches the business end.

All seven disciplines — being mixed pairs, men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s pairs, women’s pairs, men’s triples and women’s triples — had started by Tuesday afternoon.

When it comes to which district players are still battling it out for glory, in the men’s singles Brent Reiner (Kyabram), Steve Cunnington (Echuca), Mitch Sidebottom (Tallygaroopna), Brad Orr (Shepparton Golf) and David Cartwright (Kyabram) will take part in round four matches on Wednesday.

While in the women’s singles, Kyabram’s Lee Beattie is the only district bowler still standing as round four action begins on Thursday.

Eight pairs of Goulburn Valley bowlers will appear in round three of the men’s doubles action which continues on Wednesday morning.

While in the women’s competition three pairs of locals remain as round two comes to its completion on Wednesday.

Men’s triples action has Tallygaroopna premiership trio Mark Ryan, Guy Madigan and Matt Robertson already safely through to the third round.

While the likes of Brett Foley (Shepparton Golf), Tim Gribble (Shepparton Golf) and Geoff Beattie (Kyabram) are part of teams set for round two match-ups on Thursday.

Dianne Payne (Echuca), Helen Branche (Numurkah) and Kelly Norris (Moama) are flying the flag for the region in women’s triples, with their respective teams set to embark on round two matches on Thursday.

While at the time of writing the duos of Stacey Collier (East Shepparton) and Mark Ryan (Tallygaroopna), Olivia Cartwright (Moama) and David Cartwright (Kyabram), Sue Tyson and Graeme Myers (Shepparton Park) and Diane Hands (Shepparton Park) and Matt Robertson (South Bendigo) were still alive in the mixed pairs.
