Echuca dealt Shepparton United its first loss of the women’s A-grade cricket season after a balanced showing with bat and ball.

Batting first at Central Park in Shepparton, Echuca was best served by Gillian Noelker and Danielle Garden at the top of the order, each posting 17 runs.
Maisy Byrne top-scored for the visiting side, scoring 21 in a 33-run partnership with Noelker.
Marli Hollamby compiled 12 runs in the lower order, but two wickets to Dinesha Patabandige and Rachel Gardiner helped restrict Echuca to 100.
Olivia Davy bowled Echuca to a strong start with two early wickets, with Chloe Moyle claiming two of her own.
Garden led the way with the kookaburra, snaring 3-6 off her six overs as United bowed out of the run chase at 8-86, confirming a 14-run win for Echuca.

Echuca’s fourth win of the season has seen them leapfrog United into first place on the A-grade ladder, with its clash to come against Shepparton after the Christmas break.
In B-grade, Kyabram claimed its fifth straight win to keep its undefeated season alive, defending 119 as Echuca posted 6-92 in the run chase.
Nathalia picked up a win over BLU and Shepparton United held off Rochester by three runs in a thriller.
