Reigning premier Echuca snuck into the decider courtesy of a final-round victory over Leitchville-Gunbower, and will face grand final nemesis Beechworth at Tongala Reserve.
It’s the second straight year the two clubs have faced off in the grand final, and Echuca’s chance at securing three flags in as many seasons.
Echuca premiership captain Sharon Henson’s side has defied the odds to progress to the grand final once again.
“We’ve always had close contests with (Beechworth),” Henson said.
“We’re excited to be back there. It’s been a bit of a tough year with players out, for various reasons.
“Our depth certainly hasn’t been the same, but we have still kept a core group.
“It’s great we’re back there this year to have another crack at it.”
A dramatic race to the grand final came down to an epic final round of cricket.
Echuca edged out Shepparton Youth Club United for the final spot in the top two on percentage, despite Shepparton also picking up a win over Bamawm Lockington United in the final round.
Victorian Premier Cricket duo Delaney Laffy and Grace Moyle were instrumental with the bat as Echuca posted 5-109 against L-G.
Laffy and Danielle Garden then headlined a stifling bowling performance to restrict L-G to 6-69 in reply, with Chloe Moyle claiming an economical 2-2 late to seal Echuca’s place in the decider.
“We certainly rely on the younger girls,” Henson said.
“It’s amazing to see some of the girls coming up through the ranks.
“To see them get an opportunity in Melbourne is sensational.
“That’s what we want to do, keep developing our juniors.”

Jess Cox signed off on an impressive season with a game-high 27 runs, while Amy Fitzgerald (11) and Sophie Douglas (10) helped BLU to 4-77.
