Echuca Moama experienced mixed fortunes in Goulburn Valley Hockey Association action at the weekend.

The A-grade River Rats were beaten 3-0 by Strikers at Echuca College, to leave them still seeking their first win of the season.

Adam Thompson and Ryan and Regan More battled hard for the Rats but will be hoping to turn it into a winning performance against SYC after this week’s bye.

Meanwhile, the B-grade men fought out a 2-2 draw with the Strikers, Adrian Rose and Will Kerr the scorers for Echuca Moama. The Rats will head into the bye in second place.

The B-grade women claimed the club’s sole senior victory for the day in an emphatic 6-0 win over the Strikers, jumping to first on the ladder.

Sarah-Jane and Jacquelyn Taylor each scored a brace, while Alex Wheeler and Rebecca Webb also converted.

In the junior ranks, the under-14s enjoyed a strong 25-4 win over the Strikers to jump into second place, while the under-12s experienced a 10-3 defeat despite a Jack Bateson hat-trick of goals.
