Echuca Moama Hockey Club held onto second spot on the B-grade ladder after a 3-0 win over Benalla.

With the A-grade side holding a bye and the B-grade women receiving a forfeit from Benalla, the men’s second team lifted at Shepparton Hockey Complex in round seven to claim its third win of the season.

Regan More, Nash Berryman and Will Kerr hit the scoreboard for the River Rats, while Lucas Kell was in the thick of the action for his side.

The result has fired Echuca Moama a game clear of third-placed Benalla but will now have two weeks off the field with a league-wide this weekend followed by a scheduled one next week.

Meanwhile, the B-grade women will retain their ladder-leading status heading into the league bye, boasting a 4-1 win-loss record.

In the junior ranks, Echuca Moama’s under-12 side celebrated its first win of the season, with Murray Park’s hat-trick, Jack Thompson’s brace and a goal to Zara Thorpe delivering the River Rats a 6-3 win over Benalla.

Thompson was also prominent for the under-14s, scoring another brace in that clash alongside Nash Berryman, who fired three past Shepparton Youth Club’s defence.

The River Rats fought valiantly against league leaders Shepparton Youth Club, falling 13-7.
