Champions in four football and seven netball divisions are set to be crowned in a massive day of action at Memorial Park, the Deniliquin Rovers’ home ground.
For Picola United, one flag hope remains, the club’s under-14 footballers, but that hope is looking awfully bright after a dominant season.
The Blues’ young guns have compiled a perfect 18-0 record this season, including two finals wins.
Not only has the record been spotless, but the manner of victory has been almost unprecedented.
Picola conceded only 91 points in the entirety of the 16-match home and away season, a supreme defensive effort, while at the other end the Blues piled on 1760 points.
The side handled Dookie United in an unusually close 3.6 (24) to 3.1 (19) win in the qualifying final, before returning to more dominant form in the preliminary final, sailing past Tungamah 8.4 (52) to 2.2 (14).
It leads the Blues to a showdown with Berrigan in the grand final.
The regular season meeting between the sides was a comfortable 78-9 win for Picola.
In the main event fixtures of the day, Waaia will be searching for a milestone fourth straight senior flag when it takes on Katamatite.
In A-grade netball, Deni Rovers are hunting three in a row against Katamatite.
Grand final day starts at 8.50am with the 15-and-under netball fixture.
Then 13- and 17-and-under will follow at 10.10am, C-reserve and B at 11.40am, and A- and C-grades will conclude the day on the courts at 1.30pm.
On the footy field, Picola United’s under-14s will seek glory at 9am, with the under-17s to follow at 10.20am, the reserves at 12.15pm and the marquee senior clash at 2.05pm.
