Local netballers have featured in the 2024 Netball Victoria state titles held in Bendigo on March 9-11.
Players from the region were selected in the Goulburn or North Central sides, competing against 16 other regions from across the state in round-robin games in the under-15 and under-17 competitions.
Echuca Football Netball Club had three representatives in the under-15 North Central team — Jaz Milligan, Addison Orr and Isabella Spring — and one in the under-15 Goulburn side, Kate Head, while Rose Byrne and Emma Head were selected for the under-17 Goulburn squad.
Moama FNC also had several players selected with Summer Atkinson, Addison Power, and Diaz Agg competing for the under-15 Goulburn team, while Indiana Phillips and Coby Morgan played for the under-17 Goulburn side.
Rochester FNC players Lexie McKenzie and Lily Reid were part of the under-15 North Central team, while Matisse Martin, also of Rochester FNC, was selected for the under-17 Goulburn side.
Kaylah Moon, who plays in the Bendigo FNL but is from Rochester, competed in the under-17 North Central team.
In the under-15s, both teams competed hard, but, in the end, neither were able to make finals as Goulburn finished in 12th place with a 6-10-1 record and North Central concluded its campaign in 14th after posting a 4-12-1 record.
In the under-17s North Central had a strong showing, finishing equal fourth with Chisholm thanks to an 11-4-2 record.
Unfortunately, the side’s inferior tiebreaker relegated it to fifth, just outside the finals places.
Goulburn under-17s also had a competitive tournament, finishing in 11th place with a record of 7-8-2.
