After a loss to Deniliquin in round 10, Moama bounced back in a big way, slaying Congupna away from home in round 11 of Murray Netball League.
Travelling to Memorial Park, the Magpies got off to a hot start, goaling a whopping 18 times in the first quarter despite The Road keeping pace with 15 of their own.
Moama’s class began to show in the second period, with another solid effort on the attacking end (14) and stemming Congupna’s goal flow to eight.
The Road remained near Moama following the major break, finding the net on 11 occasions.
However, it wasn’t enough to touch a Magpie outfit in full flight, extending its lead to 14 with a quarter to go and a win in sight.
Neither team could crack double digits in goals down the stretch, with both sides finishing their day with nine goals, respectively.
The 57 to 43 finish was a much-needed return to the winner’s list for Moama, which currently sits outside the top four behind Deniliquin.
The Magpies will have a true test of their constitution in round 12 as they return to host third-placed Mulwala, which is currently only one win ahead in the standings.
Round 12 will begin a tough stretch of matches for Moama which will face Rumbalara, Nathalia and Deniliquin again in the following rounds before an easier run home.
