The second 2024 grand final rematch ended with the same 27-point deficit as the first, with Rumba asserting its dominance right the way through the match on Rumbalara’s home court.
Rumba’s 18-goal first quarter got them off to a flier, while the Magpies settled for eight, remaining within striking distance heading into a pivotal second period.
A staggering 21-goal effort through the second stanza blew Moama out of the water, with the visitor improving its first quarter performance by 10, with some work to do in the second half.
Moama made its biggest push in the third term, finding the net 13 times to stay competitive, but Rumbalara did enough to keep inching ahead, putting 17 through the ring.
With the difference at 25 heading into the final frame, the Magpies managed 12 goals down the stretch to minimise the damage, with their defence holding Rumba to their lowest score for the match (14).
Alas, it wasn’t to be for Moama, which fell 43-70, proving that Rumba are well and truly still the team to beat.
The Magpies will push on to round 14, where they will return home to face formidable finals-bound Nathalia in an attempt to keep their season alive with five rounds remaining.
