Mathoura claimed a pivotal A-grade win over Berrigan to stay afloat in the Picola District Netball League top eight.
The Timbercutters were nine-goal winners over the Saints in round 11, jumping two games clear inside the top half of the ladder.
A change of tact in the goal-ring for Mathoura laid the groundwork for a win, according to coach Kat Wippel, crediting her side’s team-first approach.
“We’ve had to rejig our shooting in the past few weeks, but we finally settled yesterday,” Wippel said.
“It hasn’t been gelling so we made a few changes.
“They played as a team, backed each other up, and that’s what got them the win.”
Mathoura’s backcourt shone, while a change of scenery for Cutters stalwart Casey Parsons proved pivotal.
“The defenders smashed it, we moved Casey (Parsons) into the shooting and she was exceptional.”
The result helped Mathoura snap a three-game losing streak and rebound quickly from a 36-goal loss to ladder leaders Deniliquin last round.
And the challenges are set to keep coming for the Cutters.
Mathoura will face fifth-placed Strathmerton at home this Saturday in what shapes as a challenging round 12 match-up.
