The teams come not only from Echuca and Moama but also from Lockington, Kanyapella and Tongala.
Unfortunately, the Ky West Hotel, affected by its fire tragedy earlier this year, withdrew from the league, but its players found a new home at the Falcon Hotel.
After the team entries, a mixed doubles knockout event was held, featuring 15 pairs. Additionally, an eight-player drawn doubles event took place for those who were unable to find a partner.
The competition saw some remarkable performances, with Dylan Oaff hitting three 180s and veteran George Thornley achieving impressive pegouts of 80, 100 and a mighty 158.
Early favourites George Thornley and Amon Sinnott appeared poised for an undefeated run in the mixed event. However, their hopes were dashed when they lost both semi-final matches and settled for third place.
In an exciting final, Sharee and Campbell Milgate emerged as the winners, defeating Caylee and Brian Crilly, who finished as runners-up. Caylee, one of our upcoming juniors, received great support from her family.
The Echuca Moama Darts Association places a strong emphasis on family involvement and aims to promote juniors in one of Australia's fastest-growing sports.
In the drawn doubles event, Michael Bajowski and Sam Marshall claimed victory, with Dallas Barnstable and Gary Collyer finishing as runners-up.
The Pastoral Inn Hotel Motel, with hosts Stuart and Tracey, provided excellent hospitality and expressed its commitment to support the EMDA in the long term.
The Monday night Pastoral League is expected to commence in the coming weeks, offering players an additional night of play and a higher level of competition. The Monday night format will feature all singles games, giving players more opportunities to throw darts.
The winter season is scheduled to start on Wednesday, July 19, and is expected to conclude with the grand finals on Wednesday, December 6, pending the finalisation of the fixture.
There will be no team games the following week, as the AGM will be held at the Pastoral Inn Hotel Motel, beginning at 7pm. Team representatives are reminded of the requirement to have at least one member present at the AGM.
Immediately after the AGM, the association graded doubles event will take place.
The format will depend on the number of participants, but it is hoped a round-robin format will be used, with the top two teams from each group advancing to a straight knockout stage, ensuring that everyone gets to play several games of darts.
