The Pies led from start to finish in the resounding 68-23 victory to nab their first win of the 2022 campaign, led by a best-on-court performance from Goalkeeper Jodie Lake.
After several close results in the early rounds, Moama coach Lisa Drysdale said it was a “confidence booster” to get on the board.
“It was a fantastic team effort,” Drysdale said.
“We wanted to keep fresh legs and had a few rolling subs to keep up a high intensity.
“We were on 35 goals at half-time, and we didn’t drop off in intensity during the second half.
“The intensity (the team) brought for the entire game was fantastic.”
Players battled warm conditions on Easter Saturday, with Drysdale admitting bench rotations were utlisised frequently.
Both sides came into the clash with a 0-2 record, with Moama’s win coming after gruelling early-season tests against Rumbalara and Nathalia.
United came in with defeats to Tongala and Deniliquin.
Moama will look to make it two wins in a row when it faces off with Finley in round four.
“They beat Numurkah and Cobram quite convincingly,” Drysdale said.
“We don’t really know what to expect. They’ve had a big turnaround.”
Meanwhile, the Eagles will be hoping to get on the board themselves when they host Cobram this Saturday, April 23.
