Ladies Day wasn’t the only cause for celebration for Moama, as one of its own, Alex Daly tallied 250 games for the club.
The contest started off slow with neither team able to crack double digits in goals in the first quarter, but it was Moama that was able to get over the top, taking a six-goal lead at the first break.
While Barooga continued to struggle in its attacking third, the Magpies found their groove, goaling 14 times to stretch their lead to 13 at half-time.
The Hawks could only manage to find the net four times in the third term, while Moama added 11 to its already substantial total, the disparity now 20 with a quarter remaining.
The Magpies had their leanest run of play in the fourth quarter, notching seven goals to finish their day with 41 goals.
Meanwhile, Barooga found a nice groove down the stretch, adding seven goals, but it wasn’t close to overcoming the large chasm created in the first three quarters with Moama taking the day by a 20-goal margin.
After salvaging a slow start to the season, the Magpies now find themselves in fourth position behind Nathalia, Rumbalara and Mulwala heading into round seven.
After a break this week to finish off the split round six, Moama will head to Numurkah in round seven, where they will have a prime chance to hold on to fourth position as the midway point in the season looms.
