Unless Echuca United defeated Deniliquin across the river, the loser between the Magpies and Blues at Moama Recreation Reserve would be eliminated from the finals.

The two sides played a draw in the only other game this campaign and this meeting was similarly tight.
Numurkah held a one-goal edge at quarter-time, but Moama was able to turn that around to lead by two at the main break.

The Magpies extended their advantage to five during the third and held off the Blues late to claim the win, 44-41.
Deniliquin did get the job done against the Eagles, meaning Moama would have been eliminated had it lost.

The result, therefore, signalled the end of Numurkah’s campaign.
Moama actually advanced a place to fourth on the final league table and will now face up to Tongala in an anticipated elimination final.

Moama has the slight edge on the table by two competition points, but the Blues won the most recent meeting on August 2 by two goals.
The two sides also played in the 2024 preliminary final, where it was Moama with the two-goal win.
The Magpies and Blues will face off at Congupna on Sunday.
