Moama’s division five squad became the lone Steamers outfit to stand tall on grand final day, claiming the Campaspe Playing Area weekend pennant title on Saturday.
The Steamers took to home greens against Deniliquin Blue, which got through club mates Deniliquin White in the preliminary final.
Moama came out on top in the semi-final two weeks ago, and although Deni got closer this time around, the Steamers still proved too strong, taking the win 42-34.
Both rinks swung Moama’s way, the minor premier picking up a 20-14 victory through Walter Wadge over Blue’s John Murray.
The other rink was closer, but the Steamers still came out ahead, Mark Daly topping Linda Harris 22-20.
Moama had led the way all season, dropping only one match, which was to Deniliquin Blue all the way back in round one.
Blue finished second on the ladder with an 11-1-3 record.
