Moama took the short trip down Perricoota Rd, visiting Rich River Bowls Club for round nine action.
Rich River has struggled for form throughout the competition, sitting second bottom, but the host didn’t allow everything to go the Steamers way, despite going down 1-56 to 15-76.

The round saw another point shaved off Moama’s lead at the top, after Echuca came away with maximum points in its contest with Mathoura.
The Timbercutters have been a middling side so far this season, but had no answer for one of the league’s top two, going down in all three rinks, 16-73 to 0-45.
The margins were wide in two rinks, Ian Page (28-16) and James Ferrier (27-15) both earning 12-shot margins.

Stanhope kicked clear of Deniliquin to strengthen its hold on fourth place after defeating Deni 13-60 to 3-50 at Deniliquin Bowling Club.
The contrast was stark across the three rinks, each side dominating one while the third finished level.

It seemed to be a round for draws, as the matchup between Rochester and Kyabram also saw one rink finish level.
The contest in question was between Rochester’s Don Gillies and Kyabram’s Mary-Anne Spizer, both outfits tallying 20 shots.
The Bombers had the best of the other two contests, Mary Greco prevailing 20-16 over Kevin Hall, while Joe Greco logged the largest victory, 30-11 over Kaye Barker.
Matt Robertson-skipped rinks are unbeaten so far this campaign.

The final scorecard read Kyabram 15-70 to Rochester 1-47.
Moama leads by eight competition points over Echuca, with Kyabram more than a game further back in third.
Stanhope now has a more-than-20-point lead over fifth-ranked Deniliquin, with Mathoura narrowly behind.
Around 40 points adrift from the finals places, it would take a marked change in fortunes for either Rich River or Rochester to feature in the post-season.
Next week, in the last round before the Christmas break, Moama and Stanhope will face off in a top-four clash, while Echuca will host Deniliquin and Kyabram will travel to Mathoura.
Bottom two Rich River and Rochester will battle at Rochester Bowls Club.
