After taking it right to the reigning premier Deniliquin last week only to fall five goals short, the Magpies were able to keep hold of an early advantage over The Road.
Coach Jodie Lake was ecstatic with the win over the higher-placed side, with Moama now back within touching distance of the top six.
“The girls did so well to hold on,” Lake said.
“We knew Congupna were going to bring it, and they certainly didn't let us do it easy.
“Especially in the last quarter they did start to come back, but I was super proud of my girls they kept their composure and managed to hang on.”
The win was helped by the inclusion of Georgie Crowe, who stepped up and ensured the Magpies avoided consecutive defeats.
“Best-on went to Georgie Crowe who stepped up from B-grade and put on great defensive pressure all game,” Lake said.
The win pushes Moama up to seventh place on the ladder, equal on wins with 2022 grand finalist Rumbalara although seven per cent behind.
Both sides have a game in hand over fifth-placed Congupna (4-3 record).
The Magpies will be looking to make it consecutive Saturdays in the winners’ column for the first time this year when they take on 11th-placed Finley next weekend at home.
