Our latest outing was played in great spirits, with both teams contributing to a fast-paced, if at times a little frantic, contest.
We came out firing, taking an early lead in the first quarter and setting the tone for a closely fought battle for the next three quarters.
The intensity remained high throughout, with neither team willing to give an inch.
Mulwala, however, showed their composure early in the final term, lifting their pressure and pushing out to a handy lead.
We rallied strongly in the last five minutes, going on a bit of a run to close the gap, but unfortunately time wasn’t on our side, and we couldn’t claw it back.
Keely Mitsch had a standout game as our swing player, rotating through multiple positions and making strong contributions wherever she was needed.
Her growing connection with Bonnie Everett was a real highlight across the attacking end, with the duo linking up confidently and creating plenty of scoring opportunities.
In defence, Emma Parks and Ella Park were again impressive, working tirelessly to disrupt Mulwala’s attack and earning multiple turnovers between them.
Their pressure played a key role in keeping us within striking distance.
It was also great to see under-17s players Shontai O’Callaghan, Phoebe Newman and Zoe Circuitt taking the court and make the most of their opportunities.
Their energy and composure added real value, and it’s exciting to see their development continue.
While it was disappointing to fall short of the win, there’s plenty to be proud of.
We’re staying focused on building strong performances as we head toward the business end of the season.
Awards: Keely Mitsch, Emma Parks, Bonnie Everett.
