Leitchville-Gunbower and Lockington-Bamawm United came up against top three sides in round 12 of Heathcote District Netball League.
Leitchville-Gunbower v Mt Pleasant
The Bombers couldn’t get it done against the third-ranked Mighty Mounts at Gunbower Recreation Reserve, falling by 29 goals.
Mt Pleasant led at every turn in the match, with its lead only growing as the game wore on.
It was still a game at half-time with scores sitting at 14-32 in favour of the visitor, but things began to quickly unravel after that.
The deficit grew to 20 at the three-quarter breaks with the Bombers minimising the damage with a strong 12-goal last ditch effort.
The final score was 38-67.
L-G will be up for a bigger challenge in round 13 with the Bombers eyeing a showdown with the top-of-the-table Grasshoppers at Colbinabbin.
Lockington-Bamawm United v Colbinabbin
Speaking of the Grasshoppers, The undefeated green unit laid waste to the still-winless Cats in round 12.
Colbinabbin proved that it should be considered the flag favourite in 2025, goaling no less than 18 times in each quarter against the current wooden-spooners.
Meanwhile, LBU found some decent stretches of play after a slow start, hitting double digits in goals in each quarter after the first.
However, it did very little to catch the blistering Grasshoppers, who cruised to a 44-goal victory, 81-37.
The Cats will have a good chance to finally get the monkey off their back in round 13 when they play second last-placed Heathcote.
