Close ties were the order of the day, with four of the five matches decided by only a single game and both remaining undefeated sides suffered their first loss, making for a crowded league table.
Racket Scientists were undefeated coming into their match with Dragons but found themselves behind the pace early after Dragons took the first doubles 3-2.
Stephen Hope and Duncan Friday fought back for Racket Scientists in the second doubles, also earning a tight 3-2 victory, 11-8 in the fifth game, to bring things to level pegging for the final round of singles match-ups.
The first singles went the way of Dragons, but Racket Scientists were able to level things after Daniel Barry claimed victory in the penultimate match.
That meant the final match between Hope and Raymond Kissell would determine the result and Kissell stepped up in a hard-fought three games, taking the match and the team tie for Dragons with a 14-12, 11-9, 11-6 victory.
No. 1 Draft Pick were looking for their first win of the season against 1-2 Loopers.
A back-and-forth first doubles match gave Draft Pick the edge, Divya Mallya and Jesse Edwards pulling out the win in five games, 8-11, 11-4, 12-14, 11-3, 11-8 over Kevin Mao and substitute Oliver Shedden.
The second doubles swung back the way of Loopers, and despite dropping the first game, they reeled off three straight and took a 5-3 advantage into the final round of singles.
Requiring only one more win to take the match, Loopers did so at the first opportunity, although Draft Pick was able to take the remaining two matches for a final score of 6-5 in Loopers’ favour.
Two 2-1 teams, Rebels and Smash Bros, were looking to push towards the top of the table.
Smash Bros almost enjoyed a dream start, with number three player Ryan Simmons taking Rebels number two Peter Retallick to five games, Retallick holding his nerve in the fifth to take the match 8-11, 11-8, 11-8, 8-11, 11-3.
After grabbing the first game, Smash Bros were hopeful of going on to take the first doubles, but the Rebels pairing of Hank Doller and Retallick responded well to take the match 3-1.
Smash Bros recovered in the second doubles to level the tie but wins to Nathan Mackrell and Retallick in singles action put the result beyond doubt, before Smash Bros diminished the margin to 6-5 by taking the final singles.
CBD (0-3) and Snap Crackle and Pop (1-2) were both looking to improve on sluggish starts to the season.
SCP took a stranglehold over the match in the doubles games, taking both 3-0 to be within one game of victory with the final three singles to play.
CBD responded through Brady Cronin and Chris Hawking, with the pair each grabbing important wins to send the match to the last game.
Jen Fang steadied the ship for SCP, prevailing 3-0 in the decider to give her side a 6-5 victory.
The remaining fixture in round four was a contest between Tall Timber and Andromeda.
Tall Timber was hoping to maintain an unbeaten start, but found themselves in trouble early after dropping both doubles.
Andromeda wasted no time sewing up the result in the first of the remaining three singles, and while Phil Higgins was able to pull one back for Timber, it was Andromeda who walked away with a percentage-boosting 7-4 win.
Round five will see Loopers taking on Rebels, Snap Crackle and Pop facing off with Tall Timber, Racket Scientists battling CBD, Smash Bros against Dragons and Andromeda versus No. 1 Draft Pick.
