Echuca 208 Primary School students Ivy Walker, Marlon Micalizzi and Luca Micalizzi are set to represent Team Victoria at the Australian School Sports Track and Field Championships.

The championships will take place in Brisbane from November 17 to 21, with the trio trialling successfully in Melbourne to make the team and earning the opportunity to compete against some of the brightest primary school-age athletics talent in the country

Marlon Micalizzi, a Year 6 student at 208, will compete in the 200m run and Swiss medley relay after his successful trials.

Micalizzi narrowly missed out on qualifying for the high jump, an event for which he currently holds the record in the Loddon Mallee 11-year-old event (1.48m).

To make it a family affair in Brisbane, brother Luca also qualified for Team Victoria’s shot put team, throwing a 9.40m to earn his place on the team.

Walker, a Year 5 student, will compete in the high jump at the championships.

Walker also enjoyed success at the Loddon Mallee Regional Athletics tournament, running first in the 800m event.
