Bangerang Redback saluted in race six, its third win of the year and fourth overall in what is proving to be a fruitful 2023.
Jockey Tom Prebble timed his run well in the final stretch after sitting four back at the halfway mark of the Kane Lovell Cup, with the six-year-old son of Redente saluting for connections by half a length in the 1450m race.
The win follows a fourth place over the same distance at Echuca on November 7, also with Prebble aboard.
A confident Archard was pleased with “Bangers” run.
“We were pretty confident that he would run well on Saturday,” Archard said.
“His first two runs this time in have been great, we changed his training around, and it seems to be working.
“It looked a bit precarious halfway around, but he was fit enough and good enough to keep coming and win.
“Tommy (Prebble) had his first ride on him last start at Echuca and ran him really well.”

It’s Bangerang Redback’s first win since May, a 1600m race at Warracknabeal, and Archard is hoping to get him back up to the distance in December.
“We’ll get him up to 1600m next start now, and hopefully he can keep running well,” he said.
“We like to space his runs, so we might look at Bendigo on the 16th of December.”
Archard also placed in race five, with Rose Hammond guiding Limbering to third.
“Rose rides her really well,” Archard said.
“Gave her every chance.
“She’s not naturally gifted the horse, but she tries, and she’ll get her time in the sun sooner rather than later, hopefully.”
