The B-grade men got a dominant win over Strikers Hockey Club, putting it to the sword 10-0.
Lachlan Keillor was a standout player for his work in assisting ball movement through the centre of the game, linking defence to attack.
Stuart Williams was also commended for his strong defence, assisting to keep the Strikers away from their attacking areas and preventing them from scoring.
Christopher Matthew led the way in front of goal with four to his name.
In a much tighter contest, the women’s Green team tallied a two-goal victory over Shepparton Youth Club.
Echuca held on throughout and matched each SYC goal until the last half, where two quick goals allowed them to run away with it.
Olivia Thompson was awarded best afield for her work on the wing as a vital connection between defence and attack, with some strong tackles winning the ball back for Echuca.
Courtney Thompson was also lauded for her strong striking game with two goals, alongside Sally Thompson for her vital role in defence, assisting in stopping multiple shots on goal from SYC.
Juniors
It was the first win of 2025 for the under-15s outfit and a testament to the hard work in training and applying the skills developed in game scenarios.
Jack Thompson was given man of the match for his strong attacking presence, scoring both of Echuca’s goals in the 2-1 victory over Shepparton Christian College Lions.
The under-12 Green team weren’t as fortunate in their contest, falling to Shepparton Youth Club 12-1.
Despite the loss, the still young side demonstrated their skill in passing into space and to teammates, which led to their sole goal in the match.
Holly Bourke got top votes for her defensive tenacity, great skill work and tackles to win the ball for Echuca.
In the other under-12s side, the White team notched a strong performance against Shepparton Christian College Lions.
Jack Thompson played out of his mind in front of goal, scoring 12 of Echuca’s 16 goals during the match, while also delegating opportunities to newer players.
Audrey Dobeli was named best afield for her strong defensive work.
