Despite showing the breadth of their constitution, the Roos weren’t able to claw all the way back, with the Eagles converting their top of the table finish into silverware.
But the decider wasn’t without its drama, as the Eagles, despite opening up a huge lead, were forced to quell a stirring Girgarre comeback in the latter stages, which they managed to do successfully to claim a 37-32 victory.
It was a flying start from the Eagles, who managed to settle the nerves in the face of the big crowd that had assembled courtside, soaring to a mammoth 15-5 lead by the quarter-time siren.
The gap had grown even further by half-time, too, as Shepparton East continued to dominate around the court, pulling out to a 25-12 lead at the main break and were seemingly well on the way to lifting the cup.
It was a tight tussle between the two sides for bragging rights.

Girgarre found its feet after the break, however, and set about cutting the margin one goal at a time, combining well across all thirds to reduce the deficit to 10 by the final change.
It was a big margin to overcome, but the Roos did everything in their power to try and reel in the Eagles, closing the gap steadily as the clock wound down.
It wasn’t to be, however, as Shepparton East did enough to stay ahead, clinging on to claim the premiership after a brilliant year, with Sage Garcia adjudged best on court by the umpires for her accurate shooting in the win.
