Three of Revival Aerobics Studio’s talents secured spots in competition at the Federation of International Sports, Aerobics and Fitness (FISAF) World Championship in Prague, Czech Republic in October, and while the experience of being at worlds was already a dream come true, staking the claim to be the best in the world is another that became reality for Brodie Kelly and Sean Reynolds.
Kelly competed in the junior male individual category, completing a solo performance in a semi-final and final to take out the gold medal.
With a theme of ‘electricity’ in his performance, Kelly lit up the stage twice in one day, displaying strong endurance and fitness while making his moves “look super easy”, which was well rewarded by the international judging panel.
“Brodie had to compete twice in the same day, on the Wednesday he actually had to do his semi-final Wednesday morning, and then his finals Wednesday night,” world championship competitor and Revival Aerobics Studio co-owner Reynolds said.
“That's obviously even more taxing on the body and you’re more reliant on your fitness, and as coaches we're so, so proud of Brodie.”

For Kelly and fellow co-owner Daniel Johnson, it’s the first time the pair have made it to the pinnacle of aerobics competition, while for Reynolds it’s his second, although the last time was a decade ago before Revival was even an institution in Shepparton.
“We were just stoked to be there,” Reynolds said.
“Obviously, it's an honour to be on the Australian team in general, but it was also Revival’s first worlds as well, so a huge achievement for our club.”
Reynolds and Johnson both competed in the masters male individual category, and both recorded a podium finish.
Asked as to whether he felt he’d done enough to earn a top spot from the judges, Reynolds said he was confident in the preparation he’d put in place to deliver a performance at his fittest.
“Absolutely (I felt confident),” Reynolds said.
“You amp up your training in the lead up to worlds - nationals was end of August so since then we've probably been training three or four times a week, plus outside training going to the gym.
“You have to be at your absolute fittest but I knew I’d put in the work and yeah, I was stoked with the performance.”
Ultimately, Reynolds would come away with gold and Johnson would win bronze in sensational results for Shepparton’s home-grown talents, who travelled with 110 Australian aerobics team members to Europe.

With a taste of glory, the Revival team is after more.
Aerobics in Shepparton is well and truly revived, and now it’s got aims to blossom.
“To go again, make the Australian team for worlds in New Zealand next year, that's our goal now,” Reynolds said.
“To take more Revival athletes and have more success would be great too.”
But for now, the trio of Goulburn Valley locals can reflect on their foreign silverware, and hold their heads high as the world’s best.
