Alou Kuol’s next club has been confirmed.

The Shepparton striker’s departure from Central Coast Mariners was publicised last week and, after a short spell as a free agent, the 23-year-old has signed on the line at a fellow A-League club.

Western Sydney Wanderers announced Kuol as their latest signing on Wednesday night, seeing the Goulburn Valley Suns alum head an hour south to join the red and black army on a one-year deal.

He links up with his former Mariners coach Alen Stajcic, who steered the Wanderers to a fourth-placed finish and elimination final berth during the 2024-25 A-League season.

“Alou’s a great fit for what we’re building here,” Stajcic said.

“He’s hard working, eager to improve and adds genuine quality in the final third. We believe this is the ideal environment for him to realise his full potential.”

Kuol, a treble winner with the Mariners, scored four goals in 25 games during the most recent campaign.

A shake-up and club change could be precisely what the doctor ordered to reignite Kuol’s fire and the young attacker can’t wait to be back doing what he does best: scoring goals.

“ ’Staj’ and ‘Naz’ (assistant coach Nahuel Arrarte) spoke to me – I’ve worked with them before and what they’re aiming to achieve next season really excites me,” Kuol said.

“When I first came to Australia, I used to live in St Mary’s, so I’ve always felt like the Wanderers were a team I’d love to play for.

“To now have that opportunity and represent the west, I’m really excited for, as well as meeting everyone and playing in front of the RBB.

“I want to score goals, work hard for the team and the fans and become an A-League champion with the Wanderers.”
