While the Pios were able to match the Stingrays over the rest of the game, they weren’t able to make any dent in the lead, eventually falling 13.11 (89) to 8.8 (56).
Echuca prospect Cody Walker was the Pios’ best in the game, his third time named among the best players this season, while fellow Murray Bombers export Tom Evans was also among the best players for Bendigo.
Tongala’s Jessie Johnstone also suited up in the fixture.
The boys side is back in action this Saturday, hosting the 3-3 Sandringham Dragons at Queen Elizabeth Oval in Bendigo.
The girls Pioneers have struggled to get things going throughout the season, yet to pick up a win.
The side's most recent game was on May 18 against the Greater Western Victoria Rebels in Swan Hill.
A difficult first half saw the Pios score only one major, putting them in a 41-point hole at the half.
Although the Pioneers managed to rally and win the third period, the Rebels were able to regroup and cruise to a 14.9 (93) to 4.4 (28) win.
Echuca United’s Sage Dennis, in the top grade side as an under-16 player, was named one of the Pioneers’ best in the fixture, as she has been in all four games she has played this season.
Moama’s Beth Morris has played in all six matches this season, also identified as one of her side’s best on four occasions.
The girls Pioneers return to action on June 1, travelling to Essendon to take on Gippsland Power.
