After a surprising defeat in the final regular season round, Moama’s first of the campaign, the Steamers rebounded effectively to again punch their grand final ticket in the Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields Bowls Region Premier League.
Moama will look to win a third consecutive crown after redeeming the previous week’s loss to leading contender Bendigo 16-86 to 2-66.
Different rink matchups from the previous week proved fruitful for the Steamers, who claimed three of the four rinks.
The best performance came from Alex Marshall’s rink, with Jim Hogan, Glen Dorward and Travis Kelly helping the Steamer skip to a 27-15 win.
Kevin Anderson also prevailed 23-19, as did Cameron Keenan 20-12.
Bendigo’s lone success came via Luke Hoskin, who got the best of Matt Robertson 20-16.
Moama will now face the winner of the preliminary final between Bendigo and Golden Square.
The Steamers topped the regular season ladder by a wide margin, posting a record of 12-1-1.
The winner of the BCGBR Premier League moves on to the weekend state pennant finals, which Moama won in 2024-25.
