Coming off a heroic fourth BPL crown in October, the Steamers were looking strong midway through the competition, starting 8-6, but fell off a little over the back half to finish the round-robin phase at 11-11.

That result was good enough to claim fifth position on the league table, Moama sneaking into the last finals spot by a game over a three-team chasing pack of sides with 10-12 records.
The locals took on fourth-placed finisher Geelong Jets in the first round of finals on Friday, going down in straight sets 6-5, 8-2, ending the Steamers campaign.
The Jets would go on to run the table, sweeping through each of the other finals sides to take the trophy, concluding with a 4-3, 8-3 victory over the Moreton Bay Pirates in the final.

Moama has the second most BPL titles (4) in history at the conclusion of the 23rd event, the Jets breaking through for a maiden crown.
The Steamers’ side was unchanged from the side that won BPL22 in October, locals Cassandra Millerick and coach Kevin Anderson joined by Aron Sherriff and Matthew Baus.

In the junior BPL challenge, the all-local Steamers lineup finished second in their section, posting a 3-2 record.
Unfortunately, the junior format sees only the top side in each section advance to a grand final, the Tasmania Tridents going unbeaten to move on, downing other section winner the Sydney Saints in the decider.

The Moama side consisted of Jacob Brighton, Mackenzie Parsons and Gracie Retallick.
Kyabram local Jacob Cartwright suited up for the Geelong Jets, who also finished second in their section, while fellow Kyabramite Charlie Boswood finished 2-3 with the Melbourne Pulse.
Melbourne Pulse’s Gary Kelly was named in the team of the tournament.
