In their closest result so far, the Steamers split the four rinks in round nine but escaped with the win on home greens, 14-76 to 4-72.
The Cameron Keenan-skipped rink was Moama’s most impressive of the tie, his squad including Jacob Brighton, Barry Brennan and Cassandra Millerick scoring a 25-11 win over a Bradley Campbell-led quartet.
Kevin Anderson was the Steamers’ other successful skip, improving his side’s margin with a 25-15 result.
Golden Square showed season-best form in the remaining rinks, almost enough to turn the tables on the league leader.
Andrew Brown skipped his squad to a 24-13 win over Alex Marshall, while Travis Berry was also successful for the visitor, leading his rink to a 22-13 victory over Moama’s Matt Robertson.
The final scoreline swung slightly in Moama’s favour, only four shots between the sides.
It has otherwise been a dominant season for the Steamers (9-0) so far, the local side leading the league by 32 competition points and by more than 100 shots on score differential.
Bendigo (7-2) is the closest challenger, Golden Square (5-4) and South Bendigo (5-1-3) making up the finals places.
The BCGR Premier League competition will be holding a special charity round this Sunday, with all four fixtures taking place at Strathfieldsaye Bowls Club.
Moama will take on Bendigo East (4-5).
