On Friday, the Steamers took the lead when they cashed in their game in hand against Golden Square.

Nominally a round two match-up, the game was played at Golden Square Bowls and Croquet Club and saw Moama claim three of four rinks in a 16-96 to 2-71 victory.
Cameron Keenan’s rink was the most lucrative for the Steamers, his squad including Jacob Brighton, Barry Brennan and Cassandra Millerick picking up a 26-13 win.

Alex Marshall and Kevin Anderson also led successful efforts, while Alex Skilton narrowly led Golden Square to its only points of the contest, 22-20.
Now on top of the ladder, Moama backed up at home the next day, taking on theoretically its closest rival, Bendigo.

The Steamers demonstrated the gulf in class by sweeping to wins in all four rinks and claiming maximum points 18-95 to 0-65.
This time it was Anderson’s rink, featuring Brock Keenan, Kevin Brennan and Paul Girdler, which scored the biggest margin, 30-16.

Bendigo came closest to securing points through Daniel Gloury, but it was the Brody Harker-led quartet that held on for the 21-20 result.
A perfect 7-0, Moama now leads Bendigo by 33 points.

The Steamers have scored 100 more shots than any other side.
The league has a general bye this weekend, with Moama returning to action at Marong Bowls Club on November 29.
