The crew of Superman has taken out the the first ski racing classic of the season, nudging out Sapphire in the Robinvale-Euston 80 at the weekend.

With nine days until the Southern 80, the crew of Darren McGuire, Steve Robertson and skiers Dan Cotton and Dan Graziano took outright honours in a time of 26 minutes, 54 seconds after taking out the Superclass shootout the day before.
There are just four boats in Superclass this year and only two finished the main race on Sunday, with Echuca boat and reigning Southern 80 champion Sapphire placing second in the category.
In the unlimited inboard class, Mistress kicked off its classic season with a win and second straight class win at Robinvale.
Leo Welch, Jamie Oliver, Dylan Stevenson and Brad Osmotherly ran the course in a time of 28.53, edging out Temper 2 and Doindough in the 10-boat field.
It was a record-breaking run for Echuca-Moama duo Mark Hills (observer) and Max McCallum (skier) in the under-14 boys’ expert class, setting a new record time of 39.39 in Showbiz and bettering the previous mark by nearly five minutes.
The next race in the series is the Southern 80, taking place from March 24-26.
