It was the final round of the Campaspe Playing Area midweek pennant, with small margins separating the top sides in the final table.

In a confidence-boosting win ahead of finals, Mathoura defeated top team Moama at Mathoura Bowling Club, 14-57 to 2-51, the leaders’ second straight defeat.
Mathoura skip Peter Holzer led his side of lead Ricky Ireland, second Dennis McHarry, and third Peter Pangrazio to a 22-14 victory, the biggest margin of the contest.
Moama’s Rodney Werner skipped his quartet to a win, 21-17, while the remaining rink went the way of Mathoura’s Mick Humphreys 18-16.
Echuca needed a win over Rich River to have any hope of a finals berth, and while other results meant its efforts were ultimately in vain, it got the job done 12-58 to 4-52.
Rich River skips Keith Hewitt (23-15) and Trevor Nagorcka (20-16) both picked up victories, but Echuca skip Ian Page scored a huge 27-9 win in his rink to swing the match in his side’s favour.

Echuca required Deniliquin to lose to cellar-dweller Stanhope, but Deni was up to the task, taking the match 16-68 to 0-39.
The rink skipped by Gregory Fitzpatrick was the closest Stanhope came, but Deniliquin’s Jamie Shields took it 20-15.
In the other rinks Mark Quor (21-14) and Shaine Laing (27-10) both had more comfortable victories.

Taking on the second-placed Tongala side was always going to be a tough ask for seventh-placed Rochy and it couldn’t flip the script this time around, going down in all three rinks for a final score of 16-70 to 0-34.
Skip Richard Feuk and his squad of Graham Willis (lead), Kaye Barker (second) and Robert Clayton (third) came closest, losing out narrowly 20-18 to Tongala skip Matthew Liverton.
Skips Barry Tinning (21-11) and Bradley Tinning (29-5) posted more comfortable wins as Tongala executed a strong finish to its regular season.
Tonny, who needed the win to stay ahead of Mathoura, will now move on to face Moama in the qualifying semi-final.
Mathoura and Deniliquin make up third and fourth places and will now face an elimination final.
Success: Rich River’s Jacqui Millar (second) helped her side claim victory in this rink.

Division two
Rochester was unable to get past Deni RSL, falling 16-72 to 0-42, while Mathoura took down Moama, 13-73 to 3-65.
Rich River was too strong for Tongala, 16-75 to 0-42, while Deniliquin defeated Echuca 14-65 to 2-55.
Winner: Keith Hewitt skipped his Rich River team to a win.

Division three
Rochester went down 14-75 to 2-49 against Echuca, while Moama smashed Mathoura, 16-77 to 0-44, and Stanhope cruised past Lockington, 16-73 to 0-51.
Elmore secured a single rink against Deniliquin but lost 14-60 to 2-53, while Rich River snuck by Deni RSL in a close contest, 14-66 to 2-61.

Division four
Lockington scored victory over Kyabram 14-59 to 2-46, and Deniliquin beat Tongala 14-67 to 2-48.
Echuca narrowly took all three rinks over Moama to win 16-61 to 0-55, and Stanhope dominated Rich River, 16-73 to 0-54.

Rochester and Elmore duked it out with Elmore emerging on top 14-53 to 0-30, while Lockington won both rinks against Echuca for a 14-40 to 0-30 victory.
Moama Black was too much for Echuca White, 14-51 to 0-33.
