With Echuca’s A-grade missing the post season, the Murray Bombers’ senior football side carried on into the second elimination final of the Goulburn Valley League against Shepparton Swans.
A strong first half from Echuca gave it a nice lead at the major break before the Swans romped back with their season on the line.
Fortunately for the Murray Bombers, they managed to hold on to walk away with a 14.17 (101) to 13.5 (83) win to fight another day.
Echuca’s next opponent will hinge on today’s contest between Mansfield and Shepparton Bears, with the match beginning at 2.30pm at Benalla Showgrounds.
After a one-point loss at the hands of Numurkah in the last round of the Murray Football League that cost them a top two finish, Moama got sweet revenge over the Blues in the first elimination final.
Meeting just a week after their blockbuster encounter, the Magpies got the last laugh over Numurkah at Hardinge Street Oval, knocking the Blues out of the post season 8.9 (57) to 7.5 (47).
Speaking of box office clashes, storied rivals Moama and Tongala will face each other in the second elimination final of the Murray Netball League today at 1.30pm at Memorial Park.
