Harley Reid’s tumultuous second season in the AFL has come to an end four games early.

The Tongala native and blooming West Coast Eagles midfield star suffered a low-grade syndesmosis injury, typically referred to as a ‘high ankle sprain’ in the Eagles’ 49-point loss to cross-town rival Fremantle in round 20.
Reid was caught up in a tackle late in the fourth quarter of the RAC derby after kicking two goals. He was helped from the field by support staff.
With just a month left in the AFL’s home-and-away season and West Coast sitting at the bottom of the ladder, West Coast fitness boss Mat Inness ruled him out for the season.
The 20-year-old has had an interesting second campaign in the top flight, with rumours of his future with the Eagles, or elsewhere, dominating headlines.
The 2024 Rising Star nominee averaged 18.8 disposals, 10.2 kicks, 2.5 marks, 3.5 tackles and 3.9 clearances in his sophomore season.
