Tatura leads the competition after five rounds, while the Tigerettes are now seventh with two wins. They are only outside the top six on percentage.
The Tigerettes were all square with Tatura at the first break, but Tatura scored 45 goals to Rochester’s 33 after the first quarter and the scoreline was eventually 12 in the Bulldogs’ favour.
After making a change in the goaling circle Tatura’s Julia Clarke shot 29 goals in the final three terms to be the major contributor for the Bulldogs.
Rochester will now play Mooroopna, the other team which has yet to taste defeat this season, this weekend.
Mooroopna beat reigning premier Seymour a fortnight ago in a low-scoring affair, having already doubled the score of top-six team Shepparton earlier in the season.
Ella Roulston worked overtime in the mid-court, while an Ava Cottam intercept in the second term was a highlight of the match.
Shooter Annie Hughes shot well against a much taller opponent, while in defence Bridgette Holt rebounded in typical strong fashion and tipped loose balls to her team’s advantage.
Hughes finished the match with 16 goals, her best quarter the last when she accounted for six of the Tigerettes 10 goals.
Teal Hocking shot eight of the team’s 11 first-quarter goals and after being restricted in the second term shot 10 goals in the third term.
She finished with 28 for the match.
Ellie Cuttriss played centre and wing attack and threaded the needle on several occasions into the goaling circle.
— Rochester sits just outside the top six in B-grade after scoring its second win of the season and can improve further when it faces fifth-ranked Mooroopna this weekend.
The team returned to the winners’ list after three successive defeats against the teams that occupy the top three spots on the ladder.
With those games in the rear vision mirror the draw now opens up significantly for the B-grade outfit.
The 52-20 scoreline against Tatura came as a result of a brilliant start where the Tigerettes led by 12 goals at half-time and steadily built on the lead throughout the game.
Payton Tiller shared goalkeeping responsibility with Grace Moyle, while Jaime Dingwall played the entire match at goal defence.
Moyle and Dingwall did not miss a rebound in the second half.
All three made strong contributions to the result, while goalers Charlotte Gould and Leila Palmer were supported by mid-court stars Rachel Whipp and Charlie Roulston.
Palmer finished with 25 goals and Gould 27, which included a final term where she shot 10 of the team’s 15 goals.
— A win this weekend against Mooroopna will promote Rochester’s B-Reserve team into the top six after it scored its second win of the season against Tatura.
The 42-19 result came after Tatura stayed in touch for the first half.
Rochester turned a four-goal half-time lead into a big win with 26 goals to seven after the long break.
After a nail-biting one-goal loss last week the Tigerettes had their work cut out for them against a defensively focused Tatura.
Centre Krystal Conder drove hard and fed the ball beautifully to the initial attacking combination of Hannah Egglestone and Zali Hocking.
Rochester used four players in goals, Hocking being the constant as she finished the match with 25 goals.
Ella McPhee spent a quarter in goals, replaced at half-time by Kaitlyn Joyce (in her B-Reserve debut) and she responded by shooting 14 second-half goals.
— A second Under-17 victory for the season came in wet and cold conditions, the team responding by slowing the play down and controlling its possession.
The result was a 16-goal win, influenced mostly by a 15-goal-to-two third quarter after the Tigerettes led by four goals at half-time.
Rochester used all nine players in the win to find the winning formula. Eventually it won 38-22.
Tatura won two quarters, the second and final, by a combined two-goal margin. In the other two terms it was a 27-9 return for the Rochester team.
Payton Tiller came into goal defence in the second term and with assistance from Tara Atley and Justice Powles maintained the lead.
Tatura’s two-goal third-quarter tally was reflective of Rochester’s defensive work as Maddy Pearse produced an outstanding match.
Her loose ball collects and rebounding were a feature of the match, when she moved from centre in the first half to goal defence for the second half.
Grace Moyle shot 10 goals in the second half after starting in defence, while Kaitlyn Joyce shot 12 goals and Monica Ingram also hit the scoreboard.
— Rochester returned to its winning ways at Under-15 level with a 19-goal win against Tatura.
After losing to the top-two teams of the competition, Echuca and Shepparton, the team built on a 12-goal half-time lead to eventually win the round-five match 37-18.
Defenders Maddie Howard and Chance Powles held a physical Tatura offensive outfit to six goals and then a 13-5 second term for the Tigerettes set up the result.
Lexi McKenzie and Jaz Milligan drove the ball into the attacking zone consistently, while Marli Cottam finished the work in the goaling circle.
Cottam finished the match with 21 of her team’s 37 goals.
Milligan went from centre to shooter in the final term and shot five goals after Leah Toohill shot nine goals in the opening half.
Evie Dyson came onto the court in the second half and also had an impact in attack. Imogen Kath was also constructive in her half on court.
