Goulburn Murray cricket’s representative teams in the Northern Rivers Junior Country Week Carnival were unable to capitalise on a great start to the week and only one of the seven teams managed to reach Thursday’s final.

The association’s under-14 girls were involved in the final of the carnival at Tongala’s Brose Reserve on Thursday, having convincingly won the opening round of the week against Gisborne.

The 129-run win was enough to get them through to the final against Gisborne, which ironically was the team thrashed by the GM in the opening round.
On Monday Gisborne managed just 82, Isla Laffy, Lara Hooper, Maddy Howard and Chloe Moyle all taking two wickets. In response, Ava Pell and Sadie Martin both retired with 20 to their credit in the 6/211 GM total.
On Wednesday the GM allowed Bendigo only 7/92 from its 20 overs, then brought up the win with two deliveries and three wickets in hand.
After a big win by the GM’s under-17 girls team on Monday, against Gisborne, the team lost to Shepparton on Tuesday and then Gisborne on Wednesday.
Grace Moyle, who scored an unbeaten century on Monday, was not involved on Wednesday as she was on other representative cricket duties.

Gisborne was only one wicket down in chasing the 5/120 GM total, which saw Delaney Laffy (31) and Maisy Byrne (26 not out) make major contributions.
• The boys tournament was dominated by Shepparton and Bendigo, who played off in four of the five finals on Thursday.
At under-13 level the GM lost round one versus Shepparton, despite 37 from Charlie Connors and two wickets to Ryan Caldwell.
On Tuesdsay they scored only 72, with James Mason’s 17 the top score as Murray Valley finished 8/105.
After a round-one win at Victoria Park the under-14 team lost to Bendigo on Tuesday, only Farran Cooke’s 21 featuring in its 79-run total. In response Bendigo was 6-166.

In the remaining match Shepparton scored 9-143 and in response the GM managed 7-130, Bailey Randall and Blake Gibson both taking two wickets.
After losing round one to Shepparton the under-15 team was beaten by 40 runs against Sunraysia, despite Hudson Kellett and Liam Edge both scoring 30 plus. The 130 score for the GM was passed by Sunraysia with four wickets to spare.
In the remaining match, the GM lost just one wicket in its successful run chase, scoring 1-69 after bowling Seymour out for 68.

Kellett was not out 35 and Luke Stone not out 24 in the GM innings, while Jessie Johnstone took 3-7.
Noah Turner (33), Lachlan Hogan (not out 20) and Jude Ryan (not out 20) were major scorers in the GM under-16 team’s win against Murray Valley on Monday.
Then Turner (30) and Angus Donat (31) were top scorers in the round-two loss for the GM, against Shepparton. In reply to the GM’s 131 Shepparton was 8-133.
In the final round despite Archer Carlisle taking 4-19 in his spell, Bendigo scored 188 and the GM just 81.
At under-17 level a GM win on Monday was followed by a 123-run loss to Shepparton on Tuesday, in spite of Declan Pearce’s 21.
On Tuesday the GM amassed 226, with Bodhen Learmonth scoring 60, Tristan Watson 34 and Cody Thompson 34. In reply Seymour managed just 91.
