Townrow clubbed 17 boundaries at Cohuna Recreation Reserve en route to his century as Echuca posted 223 runs for Rochester to chase next Saturday, a total that would have been higher if not for Adam Ward.
Ward claimed 6-43 off an economic 18 overs to limit the influence of Echuca’s batsmen, but a swathe of contributors saw the reigning premier progress to a defendable total.
Eight Echuca bats navigated into double figures, with the best scores outside of Townrow’s knock that of Aiden Young and Troy Kenny with 20 each.
Echuca was dismissed in the 68th over, giving the side nine overs to bowl at Rochester.
Adrian Pappin and Brandon Byrne safely guided Rochester through a difficult period with the pair to resume at 0-29 next Saturday.
