Moam Bowling Club has been the venue for a packed week of bowls action as the best bowlers from Australia, New Zealand and further abroad have battled for supremacy.

The Ultimate Bowls Championship is holding three back-to-back tournaments from November 30 to December 5, with 24 franchises facing off in a quick-paced pairs format.

Teams of three rotate pairings in the quick-fire format, with timers between bowls and a unique scoring system.
The top three bowls at the end of each end will score points for whoever owns them and there are also points on offer for whoever has shot mid-end after the lead bowlers’ attempts.

Two Moama trios are competing on home greens in the events.
Moama Black consists of Nathan Black, Alex Marshall and Cassandra Millerick, while Moama Green features Ryan Burnett, Cameron Keenan and Kevin Anderson.

Black made the last eight in event one, held on November 30 and December 1, but fell to eventual winners Western Wolves.
The Moama trio found its way to the semi-final in event two, but again was defeated by the event winner, Warilla Gorrillas.

Another local, Jacob Brighton, was selected in the UBC Wildcard side for event one, but his trio didn’t advance out of the group stage.
Event three is ongoing over Thursday and Friday.
