It was another pair of powerful performances from local sides in the Goulburn Murray Girls League.

Moama recovered strongly from its first defeat of the year last week, shutting out the hometown Hawks at Barooga Recreation Reserve.

Beth Morris led the way with four of the Magpies’ 14 goals in the 14.10 (94) to nil thrashing, while Imogen Rickard marked her 50th youth footy cap with her first career major.

Maisy Byrne, Charlie Martin, Zoe McCallum and Ruby McLeod all kicked two, while Stella Fraser rounded out the Moama goal-kickers.

Ava Elliott sends it long.

At Princess Park in Shepparton, Echuca United also had a big win, taking down Shepparton Swans 7.12 (54) to 1.1 (7).

The Eagles took a little while to get going, only kicking one major in each of the first two quarters, but picked up after the main break to surge to the 47-point win.

Willow Clark was the only Eagle to kick multiple goals with two, while Indiana Boslem, Jada Bover, Lily Dunham and Ava Plattfuss notched one each.

Echuca United trails Moama by eight points but retains a game in hand from back in round one.

With the Eagles and Magpies to clash for a third time at Moama Recreation Reserve this Sunday, another United win would not only win it the season series, but also put it in a position to draw level with Moama in top spot.

In the women’s league, Echuca had the bye this week.

The Murray Bombers will be in action at Nathalia Recreation Reserve on Sunday against the Purples.
