Walker, a major prospect heading into this year’s AFL draft, leads the Pioneers alongside Noah Willits, and is joined by a host of local talents in the side.
Kristian Fitzsimmons is a fellow Echuca native, while Moama is strongly represented through Campbell McCarty, Max McCarty and Thomas Naujok.
The under-18s have already begun their Talent League campaign, defeating the Tasmania Devils by 19 points before contesting a thrilling 96-96 draw against the Murray Bushrangers at the weekend.
Walker led the way in the opening round victory over the Devils, kicking two goals and being named among the team’s best players.
The first two results currently place Bendigo fifth in the standings, with it now facing the Calder Cannons on Good Friday.
In the under-16 boys side, the region was also well represented, with a total of seven players.
Six hailed from Echuca, including Jackson Butterworth, Macklan Dalziel, Will Hatfield, Lynkoln Richardson, Charlie Sutton and Harrison Whan, while Tongala had one representative in Hugo Monnich Vo.
The side has already played its two Talent League games, where it lost both, going down by 25 points to the Greater Victorian Rebels and by 13 to the Murray Bushrangers.
In the Rebels match-up, Butterworth and Hatfield impressed, with the duo named among the best players.
Echuca United's Harper Delamare will represent Vic Country at this year’s Under-16 National Championships.
Meanwhile, on the girls side, the region has equally impressive representation, with three talents in the under-18 Pioneers in Echuca United’s Sage Dennis and Moama duo Eliza Fraser and Beth Morris.
The side has an opening round bye this weekend before facing Gippsland Power on April 12, the first of 14 games it is scheduled to play across the season.
In the under-16s, Echuca United had a strong influence, with Harper Delamare, Lily Dunham, Ruby Morgan, Ava Plattfuss and Julia Taranto featured in the squad.
The side’s two-game stint has already concluded, with Bendigo losing both matches by 14 points, first to Gippsland Power and then to the Murray Bushrangers.
But for Delamare, her showcase will continue at the Under-16 National Championships, scheduled for April, having been selected in the Vic Country squad.
