Echuca-Moama golfer D’arcy Whyte found himself in the winners’ circle of the Open Age Victorian Men’s Par 3 Championship at Kyabram last Sunday.
Whyte claimed the double of junior and A-grade categories at the event, while also finishing sixth in the outright championship among a 79-strong field.
Whyte finished 13-over par across the three rounds on the par-3 course, carding four birdies in the first round to place himself among the frontrunners.
Harry Goakes took out the event in a thrilling encounter over Cobram’s Caleb Bovalina with the two forced into play-off holes after they couldn’t be split.
Goakes managed to overcome Bovalina in the second play-off hole to take out the title.
Kyabram Parkland notched up its 16th year hosting the tournament, the first in two years after COVID-19 disruptions.
The women’s competition was hosted over the June 4-5 weekend, with Jazy Roberts taking out that event.
