As division one started a week earlier than division two because they play an extra round, there are no stats for division two.
Division One
All 3 matches ended in a 7-4 result.
Locky Lightning took care of Hasbeens, Misfits proved too good for stable mates Recyclables, and finally P*ssheads overcame Shoeless.
Individual Highlights
Unsurprisingly, Michael Bajowski was the stand out player in round one.
He hit a whopping 16 ton plus scores which included a 111 peg, had the highest average with 26.37 and two 14 dart legs. Incredible stuff.
Ollie McMinn also threw a 14 dart leg on his way to beating our State and Australian representative Joanne Hadley.
Not too many blokes in the league can lay claim to doing this, way to go Ollie.
Joanne Hadley took out the highest peg with a startling 130 out shot.
The only 180 went to seasoned veteran, Max Crilly.
Other players to do well were Darren Manners, Max Crilly and newcomer Mark Murley.
Each had short legs with 15, 18 and 19 darts respectively.
I call Mark a newcomer, but anyone who’s been around darts for a while would know Mark has been playing for a very long time, just not in our league.
I’m sure he’ll add a bit of much needed depth to the Locky team.
Ollie McMinn had the second-highest average with 21.11 while Darren Manners, Joanne Hadley and Mark Murley all had averages in the 20’s.
Mark threw nine tons, Calhoun Burt followed closely with eight.
Other top pegs wet to Max Crilly with 90 and Darren Manners with 84.
Michael’s young son Daine Bajowski played his first match and has already shown his promise.He hit a very impressive 78 peg.
Well done Daine, I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of you in the future.
It’s a pity we can’t get a few more juniors playing.
Just a reminder, Joanne Hadley, along with Janine Cassar, are off to Brisbane this week to represent Victoria in the Australian Championships.
We wish them both, and the State Team, all the best. Hopefully they can bring home the bragging rights.
