In the reserves, Murch and Lancaster mirrored their encounter from the seniors, fighting for a grand final place.
Just like in the top grade, it was the Grasshoppers who punched their ticket, albeit in an inaccurate scoring performance, 8.16 (64) to 4.4 (28).
The Wombats were in the hunt during the first period, but a dry spell in the second left them in a hole they couldn’t escape.
Lancaster moves on to a preliminary final against Stanhope, which got by Avenel in the elimination semi-final.

The Lions prevailed 5.8 (38) to 3.3 (21) in the low-scoring encounter, able to contain the Swans’ attack and put enough points on the board to secure the win.
In the thirds, Murchison-Toolamba and Tallygaroopna are set for a preliminary final meeting, looking to meet Nagambie in the final.
In the under-15s it was an uncharacteristically quiet performance from minor premier Undera, the Lions dominated 11.10 (76) to 0.5 (5) by Avenel.
Undera had swept aside most opposition this season, including Avenel in a previous meeting, but must now do it the hard way in a preliminary final battle with Nagambie.
All preliminary finals will be played at Central Park Recreation Reserve in Shepparton East on Saturday.
