Hosted by the Murray-Darling Basin Authority, the two-day River Reflections conference in Albury takes place amid a pivotal year in basin plan implementation.
MDBA chief executive Andrew McConville said 2024 River Reflections will run on June 19 and 20, opening the doors on the work the authority is doing right now to prepare for the 2026 Basin Plan Review.
“We’re inviting communities, industry, First Nations people, irrigators and primary producers to come together in one place for two days to look at the art of the possible using the wisdom of the collective to shape a way forward, together,” Mr McConville said.
“Authority chair Sir Angus Houston will present the Early Insights paper, delivering on a commitment to share and test the authority’s initial thoughts on how we might improve the basin plan and way forward as we progress discussions ahead of the 2026 Basin Plan Review.
“Conference breakout sessions will unpack the big issues in water from different perspectives, with open minds and open conversations that move beyond identifying problems to work on solutions.”
Right after the conference, MDBA will host a free Science Symposium showcasing the latest research from around the basin on Friday, June 21.
